We are one of the oldest snowcat skiing operations
in Colorado and have been a mainstay in the deep powder skiing industry
since our inception. It all started in 1983 when Jupiter and Barbara
Jones convinced the Forest Service to allow them to explore the
Buffalo Pass region of the Routt National Forest, just north of
downtown Steamboat Springs. The combination of massive amounts of
snow, a variety of terrain and a convenient location near a major
ski resort allowed the Jones' to developed Steamboat Powdercats
into one of the finest snowcat skiing operations in the Country.
Under new ownership since 1999, we are continuing the tradition
established by the Jones' and have added some new twists that we
feel will enhance your Steamboat Powdercats experience. With 10,000
acres of terrain and now 3 snowcats in our fleet, we offer ability
level separation to all of our guests, which allows you to ski and
ride as close to your true ability level as possible. We've increased
our access within our operating terrain, expanding on our advanced
and expert level trips which rounds out our operation nicely, enhancing
the Buffalo Pass terrain which the Jones' made famous. Now that
we've entered our 3rd decade of operation, we can only hope to continue
satisfying the deep powder dreams of generations to come.
We love our jobs and can honestly say that you
will have a fantastic experience every time you join us.
