I was fortunate enough to have 4 great days of
cat-skiing with Steamboat Powdercats this past season
only
hope I can do the same (or more) next year. You guys run a topnotch
operation and every year I bring a couple of friends up for their
1st backcountry experience
.they all love it and cant
wait to join us the next year.
Just a quick couple of comments regarding the operation:
Your website is a fantastic resource for your operation.
As soon as I tell some friends about Steamboat Powdercats; I send
them to the website. Just about everything they need to know is
there
..but the pictures and videos shot by Mr. Genchi really
seal the deal. The videos give you a feel for what the skiing/terrain
are like. Every morning at the office, the 1st thing I do (actually
2nd
.gotta have the coffee started 1st) is check the website
for new pics/video and check the weather info (nice feature to
link to the various weather sites).
Also check the website most Sunday mornings before the wife and
kids get up and the busy day gets going
great way to start
the day. They can tell by the music what Im doing on the
PC and just shake their heads and smile as they walk by
Dad
has a problem. When I was first watching the promo DVD, my
then 12 year old daughter came in, sat down in front of the TV
and started to watch
.during a helmet cam portion she was
bobbing up-n-down/side to side with the Daves movements
as he moved down slope
.pretty fun to watch her get into
it!! Cant wait to bring her up sometime
Whenever there is a new video on the website my friends and I
email each other and alert the rest to let them know that Dr.
Genchi has a fresh pick for us to devour!!
Keep up the great work on the website
.from my limited experience
with my circle of friends; it is doing a great job of attracting
and informing potential clients
.as well as causing some
major distractions for your returning clients!!
Kudos to Kent and the reservation team for the way they have
handled the reservation process for us and working through the
challenges of changing schedules, snow updates, and overall ringmaster
duties. Most importantly the guides: We've skied with several
over the past 3 years and all are 1st rate folks. They do a great
job of finding the best lines/snow, while keeping us in line/safe.
Theyve got a tough job balancing having fun with some of
the baby sitting aspects of the job
.weve skied 7 days
with you and all have been superb experiences, from booking through
the final drop off at the office for the picture viewing, beer
drinking and story telling sessions at the end of the day.
Cant wait 'til December!!

Congratulations on a spectacular season! This truly was an amazing
season and I thank you for all that you did. There was some fantastic
skiing on Buffalo Pass and all of you did a superb job showcasing
it. The snow, alone, would have made for great memories but it
is the staff at Steamboat Powdercats that really made the season
remarkable.
Any reasonably talented guide can heard people in the right direction.
It is the interest and concern for your guest's enjoyment that
really sets you apart. You are as good as it gets when it comes
to guided adventures and you deserve all the acclaim that you
receive. There are many backcountry services in other states and
countries but all of you really make the adventure complete. It
is wonderful to be out there with you and I thank you for showing
us all that you have.
I think you deserve a special award for opening your doors to
the adaptive skiers. I was completely blown away by the photos
and video of that day. Yes, they are some amazing skiers and you
showed them a great time. I don't think I've heard of any other
outfitter like yourselves that has been so generous. That is a
day that obviously means a lot to both the guests and guides.
Congratulations.
You are truly a class act and one of the best, even when compared
against much larger outfits. It's a decision that you and all
your staff has made, to extend a generous hand to all to come
your way. The Adaptive
Skier day really impressed me. It's easy to be generous when
you are making money. But when you make a sacrifice and go out
of your way to put something back into a community, it truly distinguishes
you. The day was part of your peak season and a premier day (one
of many). We all benefit by it and it reminds me I should put
something back into the sport as well.
I should add that Dave Genchi has done a great job capturing
your season in photos and videos. They are a treasure.

So
I booked a day of cat skiing (boarding for me) back in the summer
as a backup plan if conditions were not great at the Steamboat resort.
I rode 5 great days at the hill and figured that it was going to be
hard to top my resort days.
Well
it was better.. I have had no problem telling anyone that might listen
that this was money well spent. From the 7:45am meeting time I knew
I was in good hands. The guides were professional, courteous, helpful,
funny, well mannered, and damn good skiers/boarders. The minute I
saw the cat as I got off the shuttle bus my adrenaline was flowing.
The guides outlined the experience first hand so that there were to
be no later surprises. We were outfitted with proper avy gear and
given the chance to play in the super snow.
I took one ride shotgun in the front of the cat which made me even
more jealous of what you guys do for work. I love snow and big machines..
Need I say more. This is maybe the best job on earth.
I was floored with Genchi. He is an excellent photog who really loves
his craft. I have been snowboarding for 19 years and the pictures
he took are some of the best I have ever gotten. The skies were gray
and it wasn't a great picture day but he made the best of it. He knew
just where to be so that he could give up all great proof of a stellar
day. The fact that you provided me with the pics FREE floored me.
I was sure that I was going to be given the hard sell at days end
to buy a picture or 2. Nope.. FREE. Did I mention they were FREE!.
I was able to email the 50+ pics to my family and friends to prove
that I had been on this very excellent adventure. Thank you!
The lunch was better than expected with a split pea soup that was
delectable. Yum!
Overall I give you guys a major thumbs up! My only wish was that I
had come later in the year so that all the level 3 stuff would be
available. That being said the record snowfall in December allowed
us to access terrain not usually accessed until way later in the season.
As good as my day was I know that better days are to be had (better
snow). That is why I know I will be back again. There is really no
substitute for run after run of top to bottom untracked.
Thanks for an epic Day that I will never forget.

I just wanted to thank you and all of your staff for another fantastic
trip. This year was my group's third year in a row. Before this
trip we decided next year we would try another place just for variety.
After this trip everyone voted to return again ne xt
year. There are several reasons why we decided this. This year I
was nervous as the Steamboat area had not received any snow for
almost two weeks before my arrival. Wow! Were we surprised, in the
3 days I spent with your group and 43 runs later, not one run was
bad and most were fantastic.
Yes, this alone should be enough reason to return, however the
deciding factor for us is your staff. Everyone was fantastic; I
really can't say enough to express how good they really are. All
of us felt like we have been their friends for years and each run
we felt we were skiing their secret stash.
Another service you include that is so cool is your photographer,
his passion and skill is unmatched. If I wanted this type of professional
service at a ski resort it would cost more a lot of money.
Thank you all again, see you next year.

Hi
guy's. I was just sitting around the office day dreaming about the
great time I had skiing with you so I figured I'd send you an email.
What a blast. I met up with my group of friends in Steamboat for our
3rd and what we thought would be our last time with you guys. We had
been chatting about trying out some new places just to change things
up a little. Also,
we were a little nervous because there hadn't been that much snow
fall for the last couple of weeks. Let me tell you that after 2 days
of cat skiing ( my buddies did 3 days)we all had such a great time
we're planning on coming back again next year. There was great snow,
great runs and your staff is the best. Eric, Mason, Kate, Amy, and
Dave the photographer were awesome. You can tell they really love
what they do and they made us all feel like we were all best friends.
We skied fresh tracks all day. In 2 days we did 28 or 29 great runs.
Thanks for a great time and we'll see you next year. We'll have
more people added to our group for the next trip.

I
have had the opportunity to be a guest of Steamboat Powder Cats a
number of times. Each time has been unique and a tremendous experience.
Whether we were skiing in conditions ranging from bluebird to blizzard,
a few inches of fresh powder to a few feet, it was always one of the
best ski experiences that I have ever had. Regardless of the conditions,
they always maintain a friendly, professional approach and ensure
that all guests are challenged, but not out of their element.....
and the food is always great. Steamboat Powder Cats is the best value
in backwoods skiing..... Enjoy. GM

Once
again, I had a fabulous day skiing with SPC. The snow is consistently
wonderful and the guides are always striving to get us in the best
snow for every run. How can you beat 30+ inches of freshies?
Keep up the great job. I'll be back next month for another day
or two of great skiing on Buffalo Pass.

Thank
you and everyone at Steamboat Powdercats. My trips on January 5 and
6 far exceeded my expectations. They were the perfect combination
of great snow, great terrain, knowledgeable guides, and good food.
Congratulations on your website. It was easy to navigate and the
image and video links definitely sold me on the Steamboat Powdercats
experience.
I look forward to my next trip with Steamboat Powdercats and would
gladly testify to the quality of your service.
Sincerely,

My
experience with Steamboat Powdercats was everything I expected and
then some. From Kent in the front office to Mike and his guides in
the back country, to the cook at the lunch cabin... the service was
superb yet relaxed and fun. More importantly the snowboarding in the
powder was phenomenal (and the lunch was great also). I will return
in the future and I give this outfit my highest recommendation. Good
work guys. See you soon.
