Winter Has Arrived, in a Big Way!
This past Saturday the snow machine turned on for us here in Colorado and it really hasn’t stopped since. The Steamboat Ski Area reported its first recordable snow of the season on Sunday, October 23, with 3-inches. On Monday, another 9-inches dropped and it’s snowed every day since. Now that’s the way to get this winter going.
This now culminates our Powder Prediction Contest and we have a winner who picked the exact amount and date. Of the 100+ predictions we received from you, only 5 picked October 23rd, and only 1 person picked 3 inches. Good work to the winner who gets a complimentary day with us this coming March. What fun.
We’ve been running this annual contest since the 04/05 season. It’s been a great way to engage you, and our community, and get the stoke going for the coming winter season. And, give someone the chance for a free powder day with us.

This year was the latest first snow since we began this contest. Last year was a stark contrast with August 28th being the first snow. We kind of like these later arrivals of snow in the high country. Fall in Colorado is amazing with the aspens in full bloom, the mountain biking still rocking and getting us in shape, and the beautiful weather to keep a smile on your face.
We hope you are enjoying your days. Our first trip will be in mid-December and we look forward to getting our staff together for our guide training before that. Other ski areas are opening at the end of this month and talking with our friends at the Steamboat Ski Area, they are making snow now and working their tails off to get things rolling.
Fun times ahead and many days to look forward to.
