Steamboat Powdercats is looking for a part-time photographer/videographer to join our team for the 2024/25 season. Photographer experience is required.
The photo/video position is a crucial part of our Steamboat Powdercats experience. Our photographers do so much more than simply capture daily images and memories for our guests. They are a critical part of the daily processes that make ours a great experience. From greeting guests in the morning to sharing slideshows of the days skiing, our photographers are a part of our guests’ days in so many ways. They are also important members of our guide team when helping with daily logistics, or emergencies that may arise during the day. Because of their integral position, photographers are included in the tip pool with all the guides.
Responsibilities:
- General guest service before and after daily trips, including ski and snowboard teching
- Photographing and videoing of guests during their day with us
- Snowmobiling to and from each of our 3 snowcats and working with guides on logistics of where to park snowmobile in order to transfer to and from each snowcat
- Assisting with any logistics or emergencies that may arise during the day
- Editing of images via Lightroom, video in Final Cut Pro
- Uploading daily images to SmugMug
- Posting images and videos on Facebook and Instagram daily
- Occasional blog posts
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Previous photo and video experience in an outdoor, and winter, setting
- Knowledge of Adobe Lightroom and competent computer skills
- Wilderness First Responder
- AIARE Level I or equivalent
- Driver’s license and clean driving record
- Strong ski ability and backcountry travel experience. We do not hire snowboarders for this position.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and social skills
- Self-motivated, task-driven, and able to work/travel solo in the backcountry
- Snowmobile experience is a plus
- 21 years old at a minimum
Hours/Compensation/Benefits:
- 10 hr+ days, for the 24/25 season we are looking for a part-time photographer for 2-3 days a week on a set schedule to be determined
- From early December to early April
- Daily pay plus gratuities are in the $300/day range and will be discussed upon interview(s) with management
- Yearly bonus/profit sharing
