We kicked off the first month of spring right with 5'' of some fresh n fast pow and with 6'' to 10'' predicted to come overnight we've got a lot to look forward to!
Since 2002, we have been keeping this daily blog, showcasing our "best of" memories, captured imagery and a little blurb about the daily weather, future forecast, and rocking crews. It's been a great resource for our guests to re-enjoy their day, share some of the magic with their friends who missed out and to prep those who are coming tomorrow or days down the road. One theme that has carried over and over in our daily ramblings has been how important our people are in creating the experiences that is Steamboat Powdercats together.
After 6 days, the fellas emerged from the maintenance tent covered in hydraulic fluid and oil. Under all of that grime were big white smiles of relief.
The saying "Old Dudes Rule" was a theme for our Thunder Cat today as the majority of gentlemen on the snowcat were veteran ski instructors from Seattle, WA. The years of ski instructing they had under their belts was quite apparent once the fellas took off down the powder fields...they RIPPED and their form was textbook.
Holy macaroni folks, today was incredible! Fresh snow, blue skies, and three full snowcats of ripping skiers and boarders. It doesn't get much better than that!
Oh, Baby! This morning we got the Steamboat Special, that super duper uber fluff, or as Mike Rakowski calls it, "Fluffy Bunny."
Two months are already in the books and we are in the heart of peak season! No empty seats, lots of private snowcats, backcountry tours, and a bunch of stoked guests!
As skiers, we are constantly dealing with the elements or lack thereof. We revel in the epic storm days and cherish the stellar bluebird skies but compromise on each side of the spectrum.
Big shoutout to one of our Founding Fathers and first American President, General George Washington!! We can also throw "Honest Abe"...These two dudes probably didn't do much skiing but they sure knew how to run an infantile country.
We loaded up with extra warm layers and mid-day hot drinks in preparation for the blustering weather but were happily surprised when the storm clouds broke and the sun provided some much-needed visibility!!
